Jay from Doug's Spoke 'n' Sport

Doug's Spoke 'n' Sport is the next stop on the tour in Saskatoon and Jay Woytowich from the shop was kind enough to answer a few questions for us.

How long has Spoke n Sport been in business?
We have been in business for 23 years.

What made you want to get into owning/running a shop?
Well it just kind of happened. I’ve been here for 15 years, after the first couple I was doing some buying, going to shows and stuff like that. It’s fun to see someone stoked to get out and ride a bike.

How important do you think events like the Re-session Tour and other local events are to the BMX scene?
I think local events are the most important. I’ve done little jams and things since we got our park, we have been the only shop to do so and I feel it’s a great way to say thanks to the locals for their support. The tour is like bringing the Stanley Cup home, I think it’s great.

How's the scene in Saskatoon these days? Do you see a lot of riders riding everything or a lot more street or park riders?

The scene here is getting good. We have a bunch of guys that rip but most important it’s a great vibe, everyone gets along and is out there for the love of it.

What are you most excited for when the Re-session Tour rolls in to town?
For all the locals to see what is possible in our city, some guys have never seen the calibre of riding that is coming through outside of videos so it will help all of us to see things differently. I feel that the Re-session Tour is an amazing idea and can’t thank you guys enough for coming to 'Stoon.
